This paper presents review of different experimental, analytical, field studies to ascertain the behaviour of geopolymer in various applications of civil engineering. This would be helpful for researchers, practice engineers for utility of geopolymer as a base material. The conventional materials are not sustainable for construction industry, where novel materials like geopolymers show the versatility in various aspects. The work of different researchers has been included in the present manuscript in which the geopolymer materials and concrete mixtures with different additives highlighted. The SBR latex is a novel material that is being used for different purposes but not studied well in the literature, which may be a scope for future research.
