Abstract
Methemoglobinemia should be suspected in a patient who presents with alleged history of consumption of pesticide and has cyanosis and refractory hypoxemia. Methemoglobinemia occurs when the iron moiety of hemoglobin is oxidized from the ferrous state (Fe2+) to the ferric state (Fe3+), forming methemoglobin (MetHb), rendering hb incapable of oxygen transport and leads to tissue hypoxia. Here we are reporting a case of Methemoglobinemia with alleged history of consumption of herbicide.
