A Matrix-Based Advancement in Controlled Release Drug Delivery System
Rachna Dhankhar and Asha
Abstract
Owing to severe side effects of low and high drug doses, controlled drug release concept gained ample scientific attention in past decades. Consequently, numerous attempts have been made to develop state of the art drug delivery system in recent times. Among several approaches, targeted drug delivery protocols have been emerged as the most promising solution as it involve sustainable release of drugs over a desirable period, minimum side effects, optimum bioactivity etc. Chiefly, in targeted delivery, the drug will be active only on a particular target area in the body (for e.g., in cancerous cells in the body to treat the cancer).
