A Study on Employee’s Retention Through Professional Development Program of Self Finance College Teaching Staffs in Coimbatore District

Abstract
Students are the future of our society at the same time they are created by the teachers. Teachers are the person who lights the lamp of many of the students. It is not easy to be a teaching staff. They must prove them each and every time. It’s also not an easy to recruit quality teachers and retain them for a long period. Finding of staff is little easy than a retention of that staff. Teachers have to update and increase their skills day-by-day. Colleges are playing major part to give those training for them. There are many factors influencing teaching staff’s retention but the essential and important factor is providing professional development courses for them. It directly helps staffs also indirectly achieving the goals and objectives of an institution. In this study entitles employee’s retention through professional development program of self finance college teaching staffs in Coimbatore district. Convenience sampling method has been adopted to determine the sample size. Coimbatore district is the study area. A total of 53 teaching staffs are taken as sample for the study. The study makes use of statistical techniques such as simple percentage and chisquare test in analyzing the data. The study discloses that the variables like age, gender, marital status, educational qualification, income level, designation are significantly related with the employee retention of self-finance colleges teaching staffs.
