Abstract
The most profitable industry nowadays is the automotive sector. The primary drivers of high volume car categories are the availability of easy financing and the rise in disposable income in both the urban and rural sectors. With so many new competitors entering the market and international brands like Ferrari, Bentley, and Porsche preparing to enter the Indian market, the competition is only going to get hotter. The findings of this study will be useful to both established and recently established Indian automakers in understanding consumer demands and their product offers. Numerous domestic and international automakers have an impact on the Indian auto industry. The research on consumer behavior in the context of automobile customers is analyzed in this paper. A thorough grasp of customer purchasing behavior is essential for marketers to be successful in the marketplace. Every category of the Indian automobile market was examined, and it was discovered that while disposable income is the primary motivator for car purchases, buyers in each segment prioritize distinct behaviors. When it comes to customer requirements, value for money, safety, and driving comfort are at the top of the list; nevertheless, customers' perceptions of quality are mostly based on brand image. The research methodology used for this study included reading research papers on the passenger car segment, examining the purchase decision-making process and how it interacts with behavior parameters in all car segments, including small and hatchback, sedan class, SUV & MUV, and luxury car. Finding the variables influencing consumers' choices for a specific car segment is the aim of this study. Additionally, this article makes an effort to synthesize research findings and recommendations in order to address the current sales stagnation situation and foster future demand for the vehicle industry.
