Abstract
Background: In developing countries, an enormous proportion of the visually impaired and blind are afflicted by corneal diseases. Corneal diseases, which are largely susceptible to treatment, are incriminated in around 12% of all the blind population globally. Nonetheless the unmet need for corneal transplantation,
which is considered the mainstay of treatment in corneal diseases, is gaping, generally owing to the scanty number of corneal collections.
