An Appraisal on Present Status and Stature of Non-Physical Governances in the Oldest Nodal Agency of Murshidabad, W.B - Focus Projected Upon Three Specific Wards
Dr. Ayan Das Gupta
Abstract
Municipal arenas are the residential units for the urbanites and in order to facilitate a standard livelihood for all
its urban communities, different physical as well as non-physical services are extended here by the Local Self
Government. Infrastructure is a bit different from that of amenities in the urban domain because, the
infrastructures are the basic requirements mandatorily to be provided to the urban inhabitants of a definite
spectrum and without adequate availability of its manifold components, the livelihood of the urban people face
severe challenge. On the other hand, amenities are the optional advantages or extra aids that are needed by the
urbanites even after fulfilment of the infrastructural demands by them. In absence of requisite occurrence of
physico-cultural and social infrastructure, the daily life of the urban communities in a definite urban panorama
gets compromised significantly and ultimately it goes deteriorating until and unless it comes under the proper
monitoring of the respective Nodal Agency. Even unauthorized shanties and notified slums may be cropped up in
a particular urban space due to lacking or lacuna in base level infrastructure or urban facility utility services. As
these advantages are bestowed from the esteemed end of the municipal authority or Local Self Government,
therefore, these are very often called as Urban Governances. The infrastructure as well as urban governances can
be broadly categorized under some broad subdivisions. One of which is physical infrastructure and the rest one is
its non-physical counterpart. Here the researcher has tried to throw spotlight upon the non-physical
infrastructures that are available to the urban people of Berhampore ULB. After analyses of different secondary as
well as primary datasets, geographically viable inferences are drawn over here
