An Overview of Minimally Invasive Reduction and Osteosynthesis System (MIROS) for treatment of Proximal Humeral Fractures: Review Article

Abstract
Background: Proximal humeral fractures account for 5% of injuries to the appendicular skeleton and
are the third most common fractures in the elderly, after wrist and hip fractures. Minimally Invasive
Reduction and Osteosynthesis System (MIROS) is used for treatment of fractures of the upper limb,
particularly of the proximal humerus. It allows reduction of angular displacement and fixation of
fracture fragments by means of elastic K-wires locked in a metallic clamp placed externally on the
skin. It can be applied easily, with minimum instrumentation.Surgical management of the proximal
humeral fractures by Minimally Invasive Reduction and Osteosynthesis System (MIROS fixation) is a
good option with good modality technique and outcomes.
