Dr. Maria Fernanda Cueva Moncayo, Dr. Diana Lorena Jordán Fiallos, Dr. Carlos Alberto Llerena Gómez
Abstract
Introduction: Type 2 diabetes mellitus is the most common endocrine disease. It is unclear whether physician evaluation is valuable prognostic information. Objective: To determine the prognostic value of physician assessment of compliance and mortality in diabetic patients. Methods: A prospective cohort study was conducted with patients with type 2 DM under medical treatment in 11 participating practices between April and June 2020. Results: Patients whose compliance was considered “very poor” at baseline showed 1-year mortality of 13.1%. Conclusions: assessment of patient compliance by the physician is a valuable prognostic marker among patients with type 2 diabetes.
