CONVERGENCE: A PARADIGM FOR CIVIL AND DEFENCE MRO IN INDIA
Rahul Borade, Prof. (Dr.) RajendraSinha
Abstract
The major challenge of Indian Civil and DefenceAirlines is maintenance towards its aircraft where 15- 20 of revenue is spent. With the increase in air traffic of both domestic and cargo fleets, the task towards maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) has increased. Aerospace MRO involves interaction and engagement with various OEMs even for a single platform, airframe, engine, components, electronics, and specialized equipment. Most of the MRO services including spares, technology, manpower experts, accessories and electronic gadgets are imported from different parts of globe. Hence, setting up of MRO in converging mode with Civil and Defence can save cost, time and money.
