Abstract
The pandemic of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID19) has had a major influence on worldwide surgery. The heart and circulatory system have been shown to be negatively affected by SARS-CoV-2 infection. It's challenging to decide whether to operate on urgent patients with active/recent COVID-19 infection, especially because it's still an unknown disease entity in the context of emergent cardiac surgery. COVID19 and cardiac surgery have also been shown to have a deleterious influence on pulmonary function.
