Clinico-etiological profile of surgical site infections at a tertiary care center: A cross sectional study

Abstract
“Surgical Site Infections” (SSI) are reported to be the third most common hospital
acquired infectionsleading to an adverse effect on the patient`s recovery from a surgical
intervention. They may lead to several post-surgical complications affecting the quality of life.
Objective: The objective of the study is to assess the incidence of surgical site infections (SSIs) in our
center and to delineate the microbial profile of these infections and to study the factors associated
with SSIs as well as their outcomes.
