Cognitive Behavior Therapy in Improving the Adversity Quotient of Young Prisoners

Abstract
The adversity quotient has an essential role in the life of the individual. By having a high adversity
quotient, individuals can overcome the difficulties encountered. Young prisoners are individuals who
need special attention to increase the adversity quotient to avoid becoming recidivists. This study
aims to test the effectiveness of cognitive behavior therapy in improving the adversity quotient of
young prisoners. This study used a pre-experimental design with a pretest and posttest design. The
population in this study were young prisoners taken using purposive sampling techniques. This
research instrument is an adversity quotient scale with a high-reliability level. The results showed
that cognitive behavioral therapy could improve the adversity quotient of young prisoners.
Therefore, based on the findings of this study, counselors in juvenile detention can apply cognitive
behavior therapy to increase the adversity quotient of young prisoners and as a basis for efforts to
develop adolescent development task
