Abstract
The commonest cause of death in Europe and North America is cardiovascular disease (CVD).
A clinical priority is to detect atherosclerosis early. Coronary calcifications and epicardial
adipose thickness (EAT) are an early signs of CAD. They considered a direct marker for the
overall plaque burden and thought to be an early presentation of (subclinical) atherosclerosis.
Male gender is a major risk factor for CAD
