DRUG UTILIZATION FOR BURN TREATMENT
Dr. G. Sruthi,Dr. K. Manasa Reddy, Ms. M. Tejaswi
Abstract
Context and Goal. A burn injury is very painful. The patient's wallet suffers an equally severe financial loss. Very few research have looked at the expense of treating burn victims, especially when it comes to medications. Techniques. Retrospective analysis was done to determine the cost impact of medication usage in the treatment of 69 patients who were admitted to the burn unit in a row during a two-year period. Conclusions. The mean age of the patients was 17.9 years (SD = 18.4), with 36 (52.2%) being male and 33 (47.8%) being female. The patients' average drug expenditure was $91.21, with antibiotics accounting for 84.3% of the expenditure, analgesics for 11.1%, and other medications for 4.6%. In conclusion. A substantial amount of money is spent on purchasing medications. The majority of the funds are used for prescription antibiotics. Reducing the amount of antibiotics used in burn care might relieve patients of the significant financial burden that comes with using them.
