Defamation Laws And Judicial Intervention: A Critical Study

Abstract
In a democratic political system, the right to free speech and expression is regarded as fundamental; yet, this right is not unfettered and must adhere to a number of permissible bounds; libel is one of these boundaries. This article examines the notion of defamation and provides a comparative analysis of several forms of slander laws. The topic of defamation has been brought to the forefront by recent advancements in the legal area. The primary emphasis of the discussion is the elimination of criminal penalties for libel. Consequently, in which a thorough analysis of the judgment has been provided.
