Development And Characterization Of Bilayer Tablets Of Omeprazole And Diclofenac Sodium

Abstract
The current research work was aimed to develop bilayer tablets for improve therapeutic efficacy of NSAIDS and proton pump inhibitor drugs combination for the treatment of body pain. The combination of omeprazole and diclofenac sodium was used for the preparation of bilayer tablets which act body pain. The formulations comprise of OMP as immediate release layer formulated using different superdisintegrants and DISC as extended release layer containing guar gum and xanthan gum combination. Evaluation of bilayer tablets were performed for the immediate release layer and sustain release layer with optimization of excipients. The immediate release layer of OMP showed complete release within 60 min and DISC release was extended up to 12 h. This new dosage form has commercial marketing potency as no such delivery systems are presently available in market.
