Development Of Participatory Savings Models of Pre-Retirement Age Using Guidelines of The Sufficiency Economy Philosophy inPhanomthuan District, Kanchanaburi Province

Abstract
This research and development aim to 1) To study the attitude toward saving, the need for saving money, saving behavior, and knowledge about saving and living according to the philosophy of a sufficiency economy. 2) To develop a participatory savings model for the pre-retirement age community. 3) To assess the participatory savings model of the pre-retirement age community based on the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy. The sample consisted of 33 people of pre-retirement age and 3 of them were involved using a specific method of selection. Data were collected with interview questionnaires and group discussion guidelines. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics such as frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, min, and max, and content analysis. The results of the study found that the pre-retirement age community had a high level of overall attitude towards saving. The purpose of saving money is for sickness or old age the most, followed by the education of children. The maximum amount of savings is not more than 3,000 baht per month, 53.00%. The savings model brings bank deposits/cooperative savings, life insurance policies, keeping cash on hand, and fixed asset storage. The factors that lead to the greatest savings are income changes and economic uncertainty. Following the philosophy of a sufficiency economy, there is a plan to save 88.50% for retirement, the savings proportion is between 10. 00– 20.00% of income each month. The future form of savings is savings and provident fund deposits, GSB lottery deposits, fixed deposits, and emergency expenses. Models of participatory savings for the pre-retirement community based on the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy include short-term measures by the understanding of living according to the philosophy of sufficiency economy, Encouraging communities to generate extra income, and promoting short-term savings in various forms. As for the long-term measure encouraging household income and expenditure accounting by using the Nong Rong Community Sufficiency Record Form, and encouraging long-term savings planning by planting economically valuable trees, creating future land values. The assessment of savings patterns after community development had greater knowledge of the philosophy of sufficiency economy than before development. Before the development of living according to the philosophy of sufficiency economy as a whole was at a high level, After development, the overall lifestyle was at the highest level. The satisfaction with the savings model was at a high level, and the pre-retirement age community was 53.30%, saving an increase of 3.00–10.00%.
