Abstract
Hydrogels are hydrophilic polymers that have been used as biomaterials for many years. They are widely
used in medicine and cosmetics because they are biocompatible, non-toxic, and highly absorbent. The
leaves extract of Saraca Indicahas been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties as well as wound
healing properties. This study was conducted to formulate the Hydrogel from the Leaves ExtractSaraca
Indicaincorporated with different gelling agents such as Carbapol 934, Carbapol 940 and HPMC.The
study results reveled that gelling agents did incorporated well with the drug as well as with excipients.
The results evaluated using different parameters i.e. pH, viscosity, Spreadability and in vitro drug
release. All the parameters did perform well.
