Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy (DPN) Incidence and Associated Variables in Type-2 DM outpatients
Susanta Kumar Bhuyan, Pratikhya Sarangi, Priyaranjan Barik,
Abstract
In India, diabetes-related problems, both microvascular and macrovascular, are
extremely common. As the frequency of Diabetic Mellitus (DM) rises, so does the number of persons
suffering from DM complications. Diabetic peripheral neuropathy (PN) is the most common result
among people with diabetes, with an average of 18.8 to 61.9 percent in India. PN can be diagnosed
early and accompanying consequences can be avoided. Screening programmes in primary care can
help in early identification of problems and improve health outcomes for diabetic patients. The
purpose of this study was to find out how common PN is and what factors contribute to it in type-2
diabetes patients who visited a rural health clinic.
