Dynamical Concepts Used in Creativity and Chaos
Frederick David Abraham, Stanley Krippner and Ruth Richards
Abstract
Basic dynamical concepts relevant to human creativity include those of stability, instability, bifurcations, and self-organization.
Here we present the view that most creative bifurcations are from chaotic to chaotic attractors, and that such bifurcations are
macro-bifurcations comprised of a cascade of micro-bifurcations whether in continuous dynamics or network-style models.
These typically are thus smeared in time and state-space. We suggest that the misunderstood phrase “edge of chaos” could be
used for such a liberalized concept.
Keywords
creativity, stability, instability, bifurcations, self-organization, edge of chaos
