EFFECTIVENESS OF STRUCTURED TEACHINGPROGRAM ON KNOWLEDGE REGARDING ADVERSE EFFECTS OF SUBSTANCE ABUSE AMONG THE ADOLESCENTS INSELECTED RURAL AREAS : APRE-EXPERIMENTAL STUDY

Abstract
Objectives-:The aim to evaluate the knowledge of adolescents about adverse effects of substance abuse in
selected rural areas, to associate the knowledge score about adverse effects of substance abuse with selected
demographic variables and to disseminate an knowledge by structure teaching program regarding adverse
effects of substance abuse.
Methodology: To achieve the objective of the study Quantitative approach and one group pre-test and post-test
design was used. Study was done on 70 adolescents by using Non-probability convenient sampling technique
were selected Results: The major finding of the study reveals that mean pre-test knowledge was 8.95 and
meanpost-testknowledgescorewas20.12.The calculate‘t’valueis35.81isgreaterthantablevalue2.00at 0.05 level of
significance. Hence it is statistically interpreted that structured teaching programon knowledge regarding
adverse effects of substance abuse among the adolescents in selectedrural areaswaseffective, Thus H1 accepted
andH0rejected
Conclusion: The analysis reveals that there is association post- test knowledge score with age inyear, education,
religionand occuppation of head of family while none of other demographic variables were associated with
knowledge score
