EMPOWERING HIGHER EDUCATION TEACHERS: DIGITAL COMPETENCIES FOR A BLENDED FUTURE

Abstract
Hello and welcome to this exclusive edition focusing on the digital proficiencies of academics in higher education. This special issue of essays explores the topic of how digital capacities in higher education are conceptualized throughout the Great Online Transition, both during the current and in the future. The special issue explores the future of teaching and learning in higher education, as well as new competence frameworks, artificial intelligence, and disciplines. In this introduction to the special issue, we begin by offering a concise summary of the problem statement and the backdrop. Subsequently, we present a comprehensive summary of the 10 articles comprising this special issue, elucidating their interrelationships and the unique contributions each one makes towards the overarching goal of the publication. Finally, suggestions for further investigation are provided, along with the consequences.
