ENHANCEMENT OF RADIO ACCESS TECHNOLOGY IN 5 G-BASED V2X FOR ROAD SAFETY APPLICATIONS
Evelyn Rosero , Diego Bastidas , Marcel Torres , Ramiro Bonilla
Abstract
5G's enhancements to Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) technology enable robust interactions with little latency. Only 5G, with its combination of low-latency connection and excellent localization precision, can meet the demanding requirements of road security applications. In this study, we give a unified perspective on the 5G ecosystem's potential for enhancing road safety through the application of radio location and sensor technologies. The critical supporting technologies and architectural features are investigated, with a spotlight on the demanding specifications for localization and communication. The importance of the many enablers leading the way to better road security in 5G environments is illustrated through a case study for cooperative radar communication (RadCom) using test data.
