Abstract
Laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR) is defined as
the retrograde movement of gastric contents
into the larynx, pharynx and upper aerodigestive
tract. LPR is caused by retrograde flow of
stomach contents via the oesophagus into the
larynx. It shares a similar pathophysiology to
gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). LPR is
a distinct entity, which can exist in patients with
or without symptoms of GERD
