Effectiveness Of Educational Intervention On New Born Care Among Primi Antenatal Mothers Attending Selected Primary Health Centres At Visakhapatnam

Abstract
The birth of an infant is one of the most awe – inspiring and emotional events that can occur in one’s lifetime. After nine months of anticipation and preparation, the neonate arrives amidst a flurry of excitement. Newborn babies constitute the foundation of any nation. Newborn care is an emerging challenge. All newborns require essential newborn care to minimize the risk of illness and maximize their growth and development. The neonatal period is the most crucial phase of one’s life and survival and this period is of paramount importance. Children face the highest risk of dying in their first month of life at an average global rate of 18 deaths per 1,000 live births (UNICEF 2019). Deaths in the first month of life, which are mostly preventable, repressent 46 percent of total deaths among children under five years of age. As mortality among children under five years of age declines globally, deaths among these children are more and more concentrated in the first days of life. This makes focus on newborn care more critical than ever before. The loss of a child is recognized as a very difficult life experience, which can often cause complicated grief reactions that negatively affects the psychological and physical well-being of the mother.
