Evolution and outcome of patients with chronic kidney disease in primary care

Abstract
Introduction: Most chronic kidney disease patients are diagnosed and treated in primary care clinics. Objective: To determine the course of CKD in primary care. Methods: A prospective cross-sectional study was conducted in 32 primary care practices 1741 people with stage 3 CKD were recruited. Results: 5-year remission was more likely in the group with remission at baseline and year 1 (OR 23.6, 95% CI 16.5-33.9, p < 0.001). Conclusions: in a primary care setting, the most common outcome associated with stage 3 CKD over five years was stable renal function
