Experimental Study for Single Slope Solar Still Performance Enhancement Using Steam Generator and Fresnel Lens
Duaa Chfat, Hassanain Ghani Hameed , Ali Sh. Shakir
Abstract
this paper presents an experimental study using a Fresnel lens with a steam generator to
improve the thermal performance of a conventional single-slope solar still. The traditional (SSSS)
system was equipped with a Fresnel lens with a steam generator and the sun's rays were
manually tracked during the experiment period Different heights were adopted between the
surface of the solar still and the surface of the steam generator to obtain the appropriate height
that gives optimal production. The heights that were used are (24,30,34 and 38 cm) while
maintaining the depth of the water inside the basin at a height of (1) cm during the study. It was
observed that the yield of distillates of the improved basin was higher than that of the
conventional one, and the improvement ratio of the solar distillate with the Fresnel lens was
(30.13% ) compared with the conventional distillate.t
