Abstract
This study investigates the microstructural characteristics and corrosion behavior of wire arc additive manufactured (WAAM) 2509 super duplex stainless steel (SDSS). The WAAM process was employed to fabricate 2509 SDSS specimens, and their microstructure, phase composition, and corrosion properties were analyzed using various techniques. The results revealed a predominantly austenitic-ferritic microstructure with some variations in phase balance across the build height. The corrosion resistance of the WAAM 2509 SDSS was found to be comparable to that of wrought material, with some localized variations attributed to microstructural inhomogeneities. This research provides valuable insights into the potential of WAAM for producing 2509 SDSS components with acceptable microstructural and corrosion properties.
