Factors Associated with Relapse for Patients with Substance Use Disorder: An Integrative Review

Abstract
Aim: Reviewing the existed literature that addresses the factors influencing relapse among patients with
SUD. Background: Substance Use Disorder is defined as a chronic relapsing condition which is
characterized by compulsive drug seeking and use, despite harmful consequences. Relapse is referred to
failing in person’s attempt to change substance use behaviors or returning to pretreatment levels of using
substances.
