The performance of complex manufacturing systems in fast-paced and competitive circumstances is
directly impacted by production planning and management, which must deal with system complexity and
unpredictable behaviour, as well as internal and external dynamic factors. Industry and cyber-physical
systems In this setting, 4.0 principles and technologies can help to improve scheduling and control
operations by enabling the real-time availability of system state data and the interconnection of
information and material flows
