Abstract
The dynamics of geopolitical competition in the Indo Pacific Region, involving the two major powers namely the US
and China along with their respective allied countries are increasingly ferocious using economic, political and
military instruments. The competition worsens the regional situation which previously had a number of regional
conflicts such as border disputes between China and several countries in the South China Sea and East China Sea
such as disputes between China and Taiwan as well as tensions on the Korean Peninsula. This article analyzes the
dynamics and geopolitical competition based on interviews with a number of authoritative figures consisting of
government officials, academics, as well as economic, political and military observers to analyze their impact on
Indonesian defense. The analysis aims mainly to reveal the potential impacts that may arise on Indonesia from
defense perspectives
