Hidden Symmetries: Fast Fourier Transforms of Paintings from Yuendumu
John Gardiner
Abstract
Biological quasicrystals are structures which are at least partly aperiodic. This means that biological
entities must depend at least partially on quantum non-locality to exist. The Fast Fourier Transforms
of biological quasicrystals suggest tetragonal structure counterintuitively. Paintings from the remote
Aboriginal Community of Yuendumu show an awareness of these quasicrystalline forms which
massively predates anything from Western Society. As well there is a circular Fast Fourier Transform
which has not been discussed elsewhere.
