Abstract
Introduction: Prostate cancer is the most common noncutaneous malignancy in men. Digital rectal examination is a key component of prostate gland evaluation. Objective: To evaluate the role of DRE in the detection of prostate cancer in men with PSA levels within the normal range. Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted between May 2016 and October 2020. Results: General practitioners recorded rectal examination abnormalities in 72 % (74 of 103) of the patients. Conclusions: EDR adds to the sensitivity and specificity of PSA and is an integral part of screening for early detection of prostate cancer
