Improvement Mechanical Properties for Composites based on Recycled Plastic
Wahhab Razzaq Ali ALthabhawee, Asst.Prof. Dr. Ghanim Sh. Sadiq
Abstract
It is required to build innovative material-recycling strategies to maximize the mechanical characteristics
of recycled plastics since the mechanical qualities of recycled plastic goods are often degraded in order to
develop material-recycling processes for old plastic products. The existing mechanical recycling
procedures are limited by cost, deterioration of mechanical qualities, and uneven product quality, yet
mechanical recycling is a crucial instrument in an ecologically and economically sustainable economy of
plastics. Too much attention has been paid to commonly used construction materials in a society that is
becoming more obsessed with the needs of sustainable development, particularly on the methods and
policies for their recycling and the qualities that qualify them as eco-friendly materials. The following are
some of the strategies: (a) a greater reliance on waste and recycled resources, which will need replacing
virgin materials with recycled ones; (b) a decrease in the materials required to replace them; and (c)
enhanced mechanical qualities, which consume less raw materials. Numerous methods, including
mechanical recycling, thermal recycling, and chemical recycling, have been created as a result of extensive
research and development work on recycling composite materials. The objective of this research was to
optimize the recycled plastic-based composite's chemical composition for greater mechanical
performance.
