Abstract
In current situation fiber reinforced composite material plays a dominant role for variety of applications due to their high specific and modulus. A composite material is a combination of two materials with different physical and chemical properties. When they are combined, they create a material which is specialized to do a certain job, for instance to become stronger, lighter or resistant to electricity Composite materials are extensively used in the structural applications due to its enhanced load-bearing capabilities. Mostly, the mechanical properties of the natural fiber-reinforced hybrid composites are better than the single fiber-reinforced composites and almost equal to the synthetic fiber composites. We have used natural fiber reinforced composites like snake grass and coconut coir fibers instead of synthetic fibers because it can be easily fabricated and consumes less energy. Snake grass and coconut coir fibers were brought from Tokyo Engineering Corporation, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, and India. Epoxy Resin Ly556, Covaiseenu Pvt Ltd. 7th cross, 100 feet road. It is also cheap and has strength almost near to synthetic fibers. Composite is a combination of matrix phase and reinforcement phase. The matrix phases used are epoxy resinLy556+ EpoxyhardenerHy951. It is a primary phase, which exhibits continuous form. It has usually more ductile and less harder phase. The reinforcement phase is snake grass and coconut coir fibre which exhibits discontinuous form. It has usually more strength compared to matrix phase. We have compared the properties of 0-degree orientation plate and 90-degree orientation plate. The result showed that the composite plate with 0-degree orientation has maximum (tensile, flexural and impact) strength compared to90-degree orientation plate.
