Abstract
The objective of the present research was to identify the phytochemicals present in Calendula arvensis, which was further subjected for characterization using hyphenated analytical techniques. In this study, we investigated the chemical composition of the fractions from the leaves of C. arvensis. The various fractions were further analysed for phytochemical composition and TLC fingerprinting. The fractions were subjected to TLC and spectral analysis by Mass, and 1HNMR and 13CNMR spectra to characterize isolated compounds. The chemical evaluation of the leaves of C. arvensis afforded the isolation of three compounds on performing column chromatography. These compounds were confirmed by comparing their chemical and spectral data with that of the published work of literature. A significant number of compounds were isolated as quercetin, rutoside and calenduloside G. Further preclinical studies may be extended to elucidate their mechanism of action
