MINDFULNESS-BASED COGNITIVE THERAPY MODEL: A PROPOSED MENTAL HEALTH CARE PRACTICE FOR THE YOUTH
Dominic Amalan. A
Abstract
Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) in the Post-Covid uncertainties is one of the most sought-after psychological techniques to resuscitate the paralyzed scenario and sustain young individuals and communities. In this paper, the main agenda is to introduce an effective and integrated psychological technique to overcome Depression, Anxiety, and Stress. In this process, the author presents an integrated MBCT model for the youth based on the different scales and models already found in theory and practice. The model builds on ‘Depression Anxiety Stress Scale’ (DASS-21) which will lead to MBCT proceeding from “Self-Awareness to Self-Recognition and lead to Self-Transcendence”, sustaining a splendid blend of ‘Body, Mind, and Spirit’ integration. This new model also welcomes enhanced mental health care through mutual community support. Though MBCT is clinically tested, anyone who suffers from mild or moderate depression also could use and draw benefits from it. MBCT is the need of the hour for any growing nation, especially for countries with a growing youth population.
