Enayatollah Sharifpour, Mohammadamin Ehsani Estahbanati
Abstract
Shahnameh, the national epic of Iran, is a literary monument that has always been considered descriptive of Persian ethnonational identity; and has a primordial place in the field of Iran mythological studies.. This research aims to analyze the traces of myth and its extraordinary and supernatural events by studying some of the stories narrated in the Historical Age of Shahnameh. This research has been conducted with a descriptive-analytical approach based on library data and document mining. It reveals how Ferdowsi has applied a mythical approach to narrating historical chronicles of sub-narrative in the Historical Age of Shahnameh; and how the same approach has been used in literary works of other nations.
