NEW OPPORTUNITIES AND CHALLENGES IN INDIA-U.S. RELATIONS

Abstract
After independence, relations between India and America were not cordial till 1990, but after the end
of the Cold War (1991), India's emergence as a powerful big country and India's rapidly growing
economic and technological capability and huge market made America Changed the outlook towards
India. Pokhran-J nuclear test in between did create some bitterness in relations, but both the countries
felt the need of each other and gave a new dimension to mutual relations.
