Mohammed Wasfi T. aleqaby, HadiDwaich Z.Al-Attabi
Abstract
The concentrations of U-238, Th-232 and K-40 in some Iraq foodstuffs have been measured. The results
of this study can be considered as a first step towards calculating the baseline levels of radioactivity in
foodstuffs in Iraq. Furthermore, the data presented herein can be used as a reference level for future
food radioactivity monitoring , as well as to screen imported foodstuffs that are suspected of being
contaminated. . Calculations were also made to determine the annual effective dose to an individual
consuming vegetables and fruits.
