PREVALENCE OF OBESITY AMONG KIRKUK UNIVERSITY PERSONNEL'S

Abstract
Background: Overweight and obesity both can be defined as accumulation of excessive fat that can
presents a risk to health. BMI used for the assessment of overweight and obesity, obese is considered
when the BMI of 30 kg/m2 or more. BMI equal to or more than 25 kg/m2 is considered overweight.
Worldwide, overweight and obesity both becoming a serious public health problem leading to serious
consequences especially in the last years. There are more than 1 billion overweight adults globally,
more than 300 million of whom are regarded as obese.
