Abstract
Melissa parviflora Benth herb belonging to family Lamiaceae. It is used for the treatment of various diseases such as epilepsy, hemiplegia, migraine, insomnia, indigestion and palpitation etc. It is also used for heart problems, antitubercular, antipyretic, analgesic. It can be used to remove bad breath, strengthen the gums. The main action is as a tranquillizer and nervine relaxant. It is known for its calming properties. Preliminary phytochemical screening shows the relativity with tannin, flavonoid and saponins. The plant has various biological activities like antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and cytotoxic-antitumor etc. Melissa parviflora Benth has a tremendous medicinal importance in Unani Medicine. The different Pharmacognostic Studies such as preliminary phytochemical investigation, physicochemical studies and thin layer chromatography profile was determined in present study
