Abstract

Background: Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is one of the most common causes of chronic liver injury all over the world. NAFLD is present in up to 50% to 80% of patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D). NAFLD is associated with insulin resistance, central obesity, hypertension, and atherogenic dyslipidemia, including hypercholesterolemia,hypertriglyceridemia, postprandial lipemia, low serum high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) concentrations, and HDL dysfunction.
