Abstract
Two field experiments were conducted in a administration field at Faqous district, Sharqia, Governorate in the two
summer seasons of 2018 and 2019.This study aimed to detect the response of Stevia yield as well as Stevioside
content in Stevia leaves to planting distance, phosphorus and nitrogen +Foliar fertilization under Egyptian
conditions. The treatments in this study were, to planting distances,( 25cm and 50cm between hills); two
phosphorus levels (without and 100 K g ordinary super phosphate 15.5 P2O5 / faddan,4200M2 ) and four levels of
nitrogen with and without foliar application (15 kg N, 15 kg N + foliar, 30 kg N and 30 kg N + foliar / faddan ) .
The results indicate that plant altitude quantity of the branches/ plant, quantity of the leaves/ plant of the first cut
of both seasons did not significantly affected by planting distances, where quantity of the leaves/ plant in the second
and third harvest in the first season, plant fresh weight , leaves fresh weighing/ plant , the dried weighing of the
leaves/ plant, total fresh yield/ faddan, leaves fresh yield / faddan, leaves dry yield/ faddan as well as Stevioside and
Stevioside yield were significantly affected by planting distance.
Concerning the effect of phosphorus fertilization, number of leaves/ plant at the second and yield cut in the first
season, plant fresh weighing, leaves fresh and the dried weighing of the leaves, sum fresh yield, leaves fresh and
dry yield as well as Stevioside percentage and yield was significantly increased by adding 15.5 kg p2 o5 / faddan.
Nitrogen fertilization without and with foliar application significant increase each of quantity of the branches,
quantity of the leaves/ plant, plant fresh weighing, leaves fresh and dry yield, Stevioside percentage yield. There
were significant interaction effects between planting density and phosphorus fertilization on total fresh yield,
Stevia leaves and dry yield as well as Stevioside percentage and yield. Also, planting deity and nitrogen fertilization
significantly interacted on leaves fresh and dry, yields, Stevioside content and yield.
