Scientific Temper in Indian Education System - A Historical Perspective

Abstract
"Scientific temper" in the Indian education system refers to the deliberate cultivation of a mindset that encourages critical thinking, rational inquiry, evidence-based decision making, and a questioning attitude towards information, essentially promoting a logical approach to understanding the world, which is considered a fundamental aspect of Indian education as outlined in the Constitution (Article 51A(h)) and popularized by Jawaharlal Nehru as a "way of life" to combat superstition and irrational beliefs;.
