Scopoletin, A Biomarker Isolated from Canarium Strictum and its Ameliorating Potential on Scopolamine-induced Cognitive and Behavioral Impairment in Rats

Abstract
Alzheimer's disease (AD) is an irreversible, progressive brain condition that results in memory loss and cognitive decline due to the death of brain cells. Existing treatments for Alzheimer's disease are insufficient; thus, traditional herbal remedies and their active ingredients have received a great deal of interest recently. The objective of the present work was to isolate the active components from the ethanolic extract of Canarium strictum Roxb leaves (ECSL), followed by structural characterization, evaluation of ECSL's in-vitro acetylcholinesterase activity and in-vivo cognitive enhancement capabilities.
