Abstract
In the advent of technological innovations in many aspects of the society, it shows significant impact on educational systems at all levels. In place of face to face instructions using traditional pen and paper assessments, the uses of online courses, educational software, social networking platforms, are suggested innovations for alternative assessments. Educators are always empowered to utilize various supplemental classroom activities whenever the target competencies are not met. This paper therefore, aims to analyze the least mastered skills of the Grade 11 GAS and ABM students who are taking one of the core subjects in Senior High School: 21st Century Literature from the Philippines and the World. The researcher got this interest when she was Peer Tutoring and observing the same student in FEU High School and FEU Caviate School. In this process she observed some of the mastered skills specially in the Online Mock Interview Sessions of the students of Institute of Education,Far Eastern University, Philippines. To explain and analyze the unmastered skills of students, a descriptive method using content analysis of assessment reports is used coupled with student interviews for additional data. After the analysis, description, and understanding of the competencies to be addressed, the study also sought to craft an action plan through the utilization of learning objects that students can access online on either synchronous or asynchronous time. The said action plan is designed to offer supplemental assessment activities aside from the existing tests given to students. These activities promote the use of adapted technological innovation learning resources so that learners can bridge learning using available gadgets like computers or mobile phones that are suitable in today’s social learning conditions. The results of this study give insights on how educational technology can be used in the current educational system. This is also to prove that learning online resources can be aligned with the currently used competencies as additional assessment tools for learners’ improvement. In this light, teachers and school administrators may serve as critical decision makers in developing strategies and procedures in order to effectively manage the use of technology in education.
