Synthesis and Characterization of Silica Gel and Ordered Mesoporous Silica (Mcm-41 And Sba-15)
Pasupuleti Rajesh , Dr. Neeta Gupta
Abstract
The mesoporous silica materials may be used in a wide variety of applications if the surface is tailored.
Biomolecules such as cyclodextrin and peptides as well as functional organic chemicals (such as vinyl and
3-aminopropyl) have been integrated into ordered porous silica for applications ranging from heavy
metals removal (such as Cu, Hg, Pd, and Cr(IV)) to medication delivery. These materials have also been
employed as catalysts that are amine-functionalized. In this article, synthesis and characterization of
silica gel and ordered mesoporous silica (Mcm-41 And Sba-15) has been discussed.
