THE EFFECT OF WORK ENVIRONMENT, COMPENSATION, MANAGERIAL COMPETENCY OF THE SCHOOL PRINCIPAL, AND WORK SATISFACTION ON TEACHER PERFORMANCE IN JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOLS IN GORONTALO CITY

Abstract
The research aims to analyze the direct effect of work environment, compensation, managerial competency of the school principal, and work satisfaction on teacher performance. It applied the quantitative approach with the causal survey method. The data collection technique was using questionnaires. The data analyses were descriptive analysis, classical assumption, and inferential analysis with the path analysis approach.The population covered 500 teachers from 16 junior high schools in Gorontalo City. The samples were 83 respondents. The results indicate that the variables work environment, compensation, managerial competency of the school principal, and work satisfaction had a direct positive effect on teacher performance. Work environment, compensation, managerial competency of the school principal, and work satisfaction had partial direct positive effects of 0.271, 0.218, 0.201, and 0.315 on teacher performance, respectively. Furthermore, the four variables had simultaneous effects by 0.702 or 70.2%, whereas 29.7% of teacher performance was elucidated by other variables unexamined here.
